Olton ISD Celebrates Significant Gains in 2025-2026 Texas School Accountability Ratings

OLTON, TEXAS - August 14, 2026 - Olton Independent School District is proud to celebrate significant improvement in the 2025-2026 Texas School Accountability Ratings, with gains recorded across the district and campuses.

The district's overall accountability score increased from a 72 (C) in 2025 to an 84 (B) in 2026, representing a 12-point increase in one year. This improvement reflects the collective efforts of Olton ISD students, teachers, staff, administrators, families, and community members.

The 2026 results include:

• Olton ISD - 84 (B)
• Olton High School - 89 (B)
• Olton Junior High - 73 (C)
• H.P. Webb Elementary - 86 (B)

These results demonstrate meaningful progress across our campuses and highlight the impact of the district's focused efforts to strengthen instruction, monitor student achievement, address areas of need, and provide students with the support necessary to succeed.

District-Wide Growth

The district's increase from 72 to 84 marks one of the most significant accomplishments of the 2025-2026 school year. Olton ISD entered the year committed to addressing areas identified through the previous accountability results, including academic achievement, student growth, and performance among student groups.

Throughout the school year, district and campus leaders worked with teachers and staff to use student performance data to guide instruction and identify students who would benefit from additional support. The district's improvement efforts focused on maintaining high expectations while providing targeted interventions and opportunities for students to demonstrate growth.

"This year's accountability results are a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our entire Olton ISD family," said Michael Michaleson, Superintendent of Olton ISD. "Moving from a 72 to an 84 at the district level in one year is a tremendous accomplishment. Our students have worked hard, our teachers and staff have remained focused on student success, and our families and community have continued to support our schools."

Progress Across Campuses

Olton High School earned an 89 (B), continuing to demonstrate strong academic performance and preparation of students for life after high school. The campus' 2025-26 results included particularly strong performance in College, Career, and Military Readiness and graduation rate, with distinctions in Academic Achievement in RLA Performance, Academic Growth, and Post Secondary Readiness.

Olton Junior High earned a 73 (C), representing substantial progress from its 2025 score of 48 (F). The 25-point increase reflects the dedication of students and staff and the district's focused efforts to improve academic outcomes at the junior high level. The campus also earned a distinction in the area of Academic Achievement in RLA Performance.

H.P. Webb Elementary earned an 86 (B), a significant increase from its 2025 score of 66. The 20-point improvement demonstrates the impact of focused instructional strategies and the hard work of elementary students, teachers, and staff. Students at Webb earned distinctions in academic growth and in closing the gaps between student groups.

A Community Effort

While accountability ratings provide an important measure of school performance, Olton ISD emphasizes that the numbers represent the people behind them and are more proud of the work done to ensure our kids and families know this is a safe place for their kids to learn, they are loved by the adults who work here, have people showing up for kids every day who reflect the values that are expected by this community, and care about their development as a person and not just a test score. These tests and measures are just a small part of what makes Olton ISD special. Behind every point of improvement are students who kept working, teachers who continued to refine their practice and demanded our kids' best, staff members who provided support, parents who encouraged their children, and a community that believes in Olton's schools. We are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed to this progress.
